Privacy Policy

Ok — “I am Ok. You are Ok.”
Effective Date: 7 July 2026  |  Last Updated: 9 July 2026  |  Version 1.0

Our core promise: Ok is a family presence app. We collect the absolute minimum data needed to tell your family you’re fine. We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not track your location. We do not read your contacts. We never will.

1. Who we are

Ok (“the App”) is developed and operated by Connectzz (“we,” “us,” “our”), a proprietorship based in India. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Ok mobile application available on Android (and in the future, iOS and other platforms).

2. What the app does

Ok is a wordless family check-in app. When you open the app, it records a timestamp and sends a notification to your paired family members telling them you opened the app. That is the entire functionality. There is no chat, no messaging, no photo sharing, no social features, and no location tracking.

3. What data we collect

We follow the principle of data minimisation — we collect only what is strictly necessary for the app to function.

Data Why we collect it Stored where Retention
Display name
(e.g., “Amma,” “Dad”)
So your family members see a name, not a random ID Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud, encrypted at rest) Until you delete the app or request deletion
Anonymous device identity
(Firebase Anonymous Auth UID)
To authenticate your device without requiring a login, email, phone number, or password Firebase Authentication (Google Cloud) Until you delete the app or request deletion
Last check-in timestamp This is the core feature — your family sees when you last opened the app Firebase Firestore Overwritten each time you open the app
Push notification token To deliver instant notifications when a family member checks in Firebase Firestore Until you delete the app or request deletion
Pairing relationships So the app knows who to notify when you check in Firebase Firestore Until either member removes the pairing

3.1 What we explicitly do NOT collect

  • Location data — we do not access GPS, network location, or any form of geographic data
  • Contacts — we do not access, read, upload, or process your phone’s contact list
  • Phone number — we do not ask for, collect, or store your phone number
  • Email address — we do not ask for, collect, or store your email address
  • Photos, camera, or microphone — we do not access your camera, microphone, photo gallery, or any media
  • Browsing history — we do not track what you do outside of the Ok app
  • Health data — we do not collect any health, biometric, or fitness data
  • Financial data — we do not collect payment information or bank details
  • Device identifiers for advertising — we do not collect your Android Advertising ID or any identifier used for advertising
  • Analytics or behavioural tracking — we do not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or any third-party analytics SDK

4. How we use your data

Your data is used for one purpose only:

  1. To send check-in notifications to your paired family members — when you open the app, your display name and the current time are used to send a notification to your paired family members’ devices.
  2. To display check-in timestamps — your paired family members can see when you last opened the app.
  3. To authenticate your device — Firebase Anonymous Auth ensures only real app installations can access the database.
We do not use your data for: advertising, marketing, profiling, selling, sharing with third parties, training AI/ML models, analytics, market research, or any purpose other than delivering the core check-in notification to your family members.

5. Who can see your data

5.1 Your paired family members can see:

  • Your display name
  • Your last check-in timestamp
  • That you are paired with them

5.2 Your paired family members cannot see:

  • Your location
  • Your phone number or any device information
  • How often you open the app (only the most recent timestamp)
  • Whether you have other paired family members

5.3 Third parties

We do not share, sell, rent, lease, trade, or otherwise disclose your personal data to any third party, with the following infrastructure exceptions:

Service provider What they process Why
Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication) Display name, anonymous UID, timestamps, push tokens, pairing data Database and authentication infrastructure
Expo Push Notification Service Push notification tokens and payloads Delivers push notifications via Google FCM
Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) Push notification delivery Final-mile delivery to Android devices

6. Data storage and security

  • Encryption at rest: All data in Firebase Firestore is encrypted using AES-256, managed by Google
  • Encryption in transit: All data transmitted uses TLS encryption
  • Access control: Firestore security rules restrict each user to their own data. Users cannot access other users’ data unless mutually paired

7. Pairing and consent

Pairing requires mutual consent:

  1. One family member generates a unique invite code
  2. They share this code privately with the family member they wish to pair with
  3. The second family member enters the code in their app
  4. Either member can remove the pairing at any time

8. Children’s privacy

Ok is designed for family use and may be used by children as part of a family circle. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental involvement. The only personal information collected is the display name — no real name, email, phone number, or identity document is required.

If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate parental consent, contact us at tmconnectzz@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your rights

  • Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Correction: Change your display name at any time within the app
  • Deletion: Request complete deletion of all your data by emailing tmconnectzz@gmail.com. We will complete deletion within 30 days and confirm via email
  • Data portability: Request your data in machine-readable format (JSON)
  • Withdraw consent: Uninstall the app and request data deletion at any time

10. Legal basis (India — DPDP Act, 2023)

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, by installing and using the Ok app, you provide consent for us to process your personal data as described in this policy. Connectzz acts as the Data Fiduciary under the DPDP Act.

11. International users (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA or UK, we process your data based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers which maintain appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

12. Important safety notice

Ok is a casual family presence indicator. It is NOT an emergency response system, medical alert device, location tracker, or guarantee of safety. A check-in notification means only that the person opened the app at that time. In any emergency, always call emergency services directly.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

14. Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
