Funly — Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 August 2026 · Connectz Digital Services
Funly has no account, no sign-in, and no server that stores anything about you. What you read is kept on your phone, encrypted, and never sent to us.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other detail, because there is nothing in Funly to sign in to.
In fact there is nothing in Funly to type into at all — the app contains no forms and no text fields. Every control is a tap. You open it, read, and close it.
What stays on your phone
Funly remembers which cards and stories you have already read, so it never shows you the same one twice. That record:
- is stored only on your device;
- is encrypted, using a key held in your phone’s own secure hardware (Android Keystore or iOS Keychain);
- is never transmitted to us or anyone else;
- is not backed up. If you reinstall Funly or move to a new phone, it starts over as if you had never read anything.
We cannot read it. We have no copy of it and no way to obtain one.
What leaves your phone
Once a day, Funly downloads two files containing the cards and stories everybody sees. It is the same file for every reader and it carries no information about you.
As with any internet request, the server that hosts those files receives your device’s IP address, which is how the internet delivers a response at all. We do not log it, store it or use it to build any profile.
Opening a source link
Every card names its source and links to it. If you tap that link, your phone’s browser opens the site — Wikipedia, for example — and that site’s own privacy policy then applies. We are not told that you tapped it.
Sharing a card
If you tap a reaction, your phone’s own sharing panel opens with the card’s text, its source credit and a link. You choose whether to send it and to whom. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you complete that action yourself, and we are not told which reaction you chose or whether you shared anything.
Analytics and crash reporting
Funly contains no analytics software and no third-party crash-reporting software. If you installed Funly from Google Play, Google may provide us with anonymous, aggregated crash and performance statistics as part of the Play Console. That is Google’s own collection, covered by Google’s privacy policy, and it does not identify you to us.
Advertising
This version of Funly shows no advertisements, and contains no advertising software of any kind. Advertising is planned, and when it arrives it will be non-personalised — chosen by context rather than by building a profile of you.
At that point our advertising provider (Google) will receive your device’s advertising identifier and its IP address in order to select an advert. What you have read is never shared with it — that stays encrypted on your phone, and reactions you tap are not recorded or transmitted.
This policy will be updated before any advertising appears, not afterwards, and this section will then describe exactly what is collected.
Who chooses the cards
Cards are selected by a mix of automated screening, AI assistance and human review. No card is written by AI — every passage is quoted word for word from a named human source. This is about how content is chosen; it involves no information about you, because we hold none.
Children
Funly is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Data-protection law gives you rights to access, correct, export or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. The reading history on your phone is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Where you stand at a glance
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Do you have an account for me? | No |
| Do you know what I have read? | No |
| Do you sell or share my data? | We have none to sell or share |
| Do you track me across apps or sites? | No |
| Can I ask you to delete my data? | There is nothing held to delete. Uninstalling removes what is on your phone |
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially — in particular if advertising is introduced — the change will be published here with a new date before the change takes effect in the app.
